There are different uses of lead both as the metal and as its chemical compounds, all considered as lead products. Lead products are used as the metal predominates and may well be alloyed with other materials depending on the application. Radiation Protection lead products uses only the purest lead available. Absolutely no refining of the lead takes place in the making. Lead is consumed in the manufacture of ammunition, bearing metals, and other lead products, with subsequent lead emissions. The other lead products are the cable coverings. The manufacture of cured jacketed cables involves a stripping/re-melt operation as an unalloyed lead cover that is applied in the vulcanizing treatment during the manufacture of rubber-insulated cable must be stripped from the cable and re-melted. The lead products are also used for the type metal production. Emissions & controls and metallurgical industries also make use of the lead products. The lead products are also the main component of the lead acid batteries.
