Spanish sorting equipment supplier Toratec Recycling Solutions has established a
joint venture with Best of Belgium to form Best Toratec which is to be based in
Barcelona, Spain. Following on from an alliance between the two companies in the
past year, partnership activities have grown considerably over the last few
months and have led multiple sales in the recycling market, says Toratec.

Operating independently as an affiliate within Best Holding, Best Toratec is
intended to provide a single source for all kinds of recovery and separation
system technology, using sensor-based sorting systems with different kinds of
rejection methods. The new company will look to develop new sorting systems to
add to its range.

Belgian Electronic Sorting Technology specialises in food industry sorting and
inspection systems and has developed many sorting solutions based on optical,
X-ray and laser sensors and combinations thereof. The company markets these
products through four international facilities located on three continents as
well as through 40 agencies worldwide.

Barcelona-based Toratec boasts more than 15 years’ experience in bulk material
separation for the recycling market. Its product range employs sensor-based
technology for various tasks, including eddy current separation as well as
induction, X-ray fluorescence and near infrared (NIR) sorting. The
patent-pending Toratec EcoTowerSort combines different sensor technologies
stacked to form a single machine which is designed to improve the end user’s
non-ferrous dry sorting line.

Best Toratec separation systems will enable, for example, the recovery of
non-ferrous metals from post-shredder materials or plastics separation from
waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE). Also on offer are NIR sorting
solutions for demolition, household and industrial waste processing.
