Greenstar UK has been awarded accreditation by China’s recycling quality
inspection agency for its new materials recycling facility in Aldridge, UK. The
company notes that the accreditation demonstrates the support for the sorting of
commingled materials.

CCIC’s inspection team verified that Aldridge’s entire recycling process
produces dry recyclables, such as paper, cardboard, plastic and metal materials,
to the required high quality that permits them to be exported direct to Chinese
reprocessors and manufacturers. Greenstar has invested around £7 million in
developing the facility, which processes both commingled and source-segregated
domestic and commercial recyclables.

The facility has an annual capacity of 300,000 metric tons, making it one of the
largest MRFs in Great Britain

"This news is strategically important to our ambition to be one of the country’s
largest recycling-led waste specialists because we work in a global market,"
said Ian Wakelin, Greenstar UK’s CEO.

"In these tough times, when national and international markets have reduced
demand, quality is absolutely essential if you want to keep on selling
recyclates," said Wakelin. "We’re processing all the recyclables we’re getting
and we’re selling all that we’re processing – and our quality focus is a key
factor in persuading buyers and markets to take our materials
